Reflecting on "The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries
Eric Ries, the author of “The Lean Startup”, explains that a functional specialist is accustomed to defining their efficiency by looking at how much time they’ve spent doing their work in each day. Meetings take them away from completing specific tasks therefore are considered wasteful. When co-workers come to their desk to ask questions or have informal discussions, they believe that their efficiency goes down. I, as an engineer, certainly have fallen under this category. For six years now I’ve worked for various organizations that rated my performance by measuring how many tasks I was able to complete in a period of time.
